Classic Antique Authentic 1940s Burman Shave & Cut Off Road Sign 2-Sides. Condition is "Used". As shown, Normal wear , even has an old nail in it, apprx.36"!* 12", great old piece.

I am not a potential bidder since I have two complete 6 board Burma-Shave jingle sets. But as a bit of an expert on this unique ad campaign I am contacting you with information which might help you sell your sign which is from some unknown jingle. None of the several books which purport to contain every known jingle do not have a jingle in them with the words CUT-OFF . I also have a list of every single board from every single jingle and do not show that board. The closest jungle to those words is from a 1934 jingle which was, "COLLEGE BOYS ! / YOUR COURAGE MUSTER / SHARE OFF / THAT FUZZY / COOKIE DUSTER / Burma-Shave" (which was Red with White letters and 40" by 11,5."
As there were times when a words on a sign were changed for the same jingle and since your sign appears authentic I would say it dates between 1927 and 1932 since signs of those years were 9.5 by 36 and after that they became 1l.5 by 40. And, because Orange and Black signs were alternated yearly with Red and White (to indicate when a new jingle came out\ and normally put up on the backroads in odd numbered years) and because in 1930 a blue sign with while letters was used, it is my guess your sign dates to 1929."
