Dale "Moose" Alexander (1903-1979) was a right-handed hitting 1st baseman, who played 5 seasons in the majors, before a serious knee injury ended his career. He played for the Tigers (1929-1932), Red Sox (1932-1933), playing in 662 games, hitting .331, with 61 HRs, and 459 RBIs. Alexander hit .343 in 1929, with league leading and career high 215 hits, and career high 110 runs scored, 25 HRs, and 137 RBIs, and in 1936, he hit .326, with 20 HRs, and 135 RBIs. He is the only player in MLB history to drive in over 130 runs in his 1st 2 seasons. In 1932, Alexander led the league, hitting .367, with 8 HRs, and 60 RBIs, finishing 11th in MVP. On 5-30-33, he suffered a twisted knee in a game against the Phil. A's. During treatment, his leg became infected with gangrene, and he nearly lost it. Though he returned to play for the Red Sox, he wasn't the same, and his career was over after the season. In 2008, he was posthumously inducted into the International League HOF.
