    Description

    Gerald "Jerry" Priddy (1919-1980) played 11 seasons in the majors for the Yankees (1941-1942), served in the Army during WW II (1943-1945), and played for the Senators (1943 & 1946-1947), Browns (1948-1949), and Tigers (1950-1953). He hit .265 in 1296 games, with 61 HRs, and 541 RBIs. Primarily a 2nd baseman, Priddy had his best season in 1950, hitting .277, with 13 HRs, 75 RBIs, and finished 17th in MVP. He played in the 1942 W.S., for the Yankees, hitting .100 in 3 games. Priddy was an excellent defensive 2nd baseman, with a life-time .973 fielding percentage.    In June 1973, he was arrested by the F.B.I. in Californis, and was charged with trying to extort 0,000 from a steamship compny, by threatening to place a bomb aboard one of it's ships. He served 9 months in prison.  Priddy died of a heart attack at age 60 in 1980.
