Josef Riedl Royal Vienna Style Portrait Coffee Cup & Saucer Circa 1891-1910
Nice porcelain coffee cup and saucer. The cup is decorated with a portrait of a brunette lady with gold flowers framing the top of the portrait. Has a maroon border with ivory and gold floral ovals and gold floral scrollwork over the maroon. Has a band of green with white enamel beads through the center of the maroon band. The saucer has the same border aong the edge above gold flowers over an ivory band, with a gold gilt floral medallion in the center. The cup is marked on the bottom with an underglaze blue beehive over Austria. This mark was used by Josef Riedl for Royal Vienna style pieces used between 1890 and 1910. The saucer has a different mark, but is clearly original to the cup.
Has a few missing white beads and some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
The cup measures approximately 3 inches wide including the handle x 2 1/2 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 5 1/4 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the pieces.
