Royal Vienna Hand Painted Karlskirche Scenic Yellow & Gold Cup & Saucer C. 1803
Beautiful porcelain empire form cup with figural bird handle and saucer. Hand painted with a scenic view on the front of the cup depicting Karlskirche (St Charles Church) in Vienna. The scene is framed in gold gilding. The back half of the cup is yellow. The interior of the cup is gilded except in the very bottom and the handle has gold highlights. The saucer is gold in the center and around the edge, with yellow in between. Someone ground or sanded off the shield / beehive mark on the bottom at one time, but it can be seen if you look very closely. The date codes however are still present. The cup has a three digit date code for 1802 and the saucer has a three digit date code for 1803. The factory used 3 digit date codes after 1800.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
The cup measures approximately 4 inches wide including the handle x 3 7/8 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 6 1/2 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
