Straus Royal Vienna Style Signed Garlo Terpsichore & Cupid Loving Cup C. 1904-24
Beautiful porcelain loving cup. Decorated in the Royal Vienna style with a hand painted classical scene depicting the muse / goddess of dance Terpsichore and Cupid framed in gold gilding and gold beading with partially raised gold gilt scrollwork designs above and below. Has a light blue background with a central band of yellow, pink, red, and blue and gold with a partially raised gold swan, partially raised gold scrollwork, gold net designs, and white moriage beading. With gold gilding along the rim, foot rim and to the handles. Signed by the artist R Garlo. Marked on the bottom with an overglaze blue beehive/shield mark. Also marked Germany RW Rudolstadt. This mark was used by
Lazarus Straus & Sons
between 1904 and 1924. Also has the name of the scene, Terpsichore and Cupid, in gold.
Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures approximately 7 1/4 inches wide x 5 7/8 inches tall.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
