    Description

    WWII
U.S.  ARMY  SOLDIERS  BRING  BACK  SOUVENIR
    LARGE,  HEAVY, JAPANESE   ROPE  KNIFE
    UTILITY  KNIFE
    HEAVY,  THICK,  BRASS  CASE,  HANDLES
    CLOSED ... 5 1/2  inches,
    excluding bale
Pictured and offered for sale is a U.S. Army soldiers bring home souvenir from the Pacific Islands conflict which belonged to a Japanese soldier,  a large  heavy utility type folding knife or rope knife.   This is a quite heavy knife as the brass used is rather thick (pictured).
Closed it measures between 5 1/2 to 6 inches.   Operates fine as designed,  and is sharp.
The construction of this knife is different than U.S. knives,  there is no back spring existing.  This design is called  a HIGONOKARI.   In the closed position, the blade goes deep inside the knifes cavity, and all that is seen is a brass rectangle.   There are many years of life left in this knife,  workhorse.
